"Help with anxiety and depression"

About: Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services / Sligo Adult Community Mental Health Services

(as a carer),

My wife has been treated by Dr Mulligan and his team for several years. They have been very supportive and helpful throughout many difficult days. He and his CPN have always been welcoming and willing to support changes to medication. My wife also found the help of a CBT therapist very useful and the fact that she could return for booster sessions a great support network. My wife and our family have been truly helped by this team and would encourage others to seek support for their problems as soon as possible.

Dear Sligo Carer,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story on behalf of your wife, yourself and the family. I am glad that you found the community mental health team approach and service provided so helpful, supportive and welcoming especially during difficult times. We aim to provide the expertise of the various multidiciplinary team members in the care and treatment of individuals experiencing mental health difficulties. The team provides care pathways which are underpinned by a Recovery Philosophy of Care. It is important that we listen and encourage the individual and family members to be part of their recovery. I am pleased that you were able to discuss changes in medication and felt supported.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is one of the many services offered by the Community Mental Health Team. CBT is a time limited form of therapy which focuses on making changes to thoughts and behaviours with the overall aim of impacting positively on your mood. Booster sessions can be useful to refresh the skills learned throughout therapy and assist the individual to continue on their journey of recovery. Once again thank you for your feedback and kind words. I will share your story with Dr Mulligan, his CPN and all the members of the team.

Kind regards

Caroline.
