(as a service user),

I would like to say about 3 wonderful experiences.

Liscarney House, Pearse Road, Sligo Town, Sligo, Ireland.

My mum suffers with Bi-polar, she is 69 yrs of age. She is a lovely lady when well but when she is unwell there is no words to describe her.

Mum attends Liscarney on a day care basis, they have been wonderful to her, excellent care from the team who work there, psychiatrist, (a full team).

St. Columbus Psychiatric Hospital Sligo 5-6 weeks in the autumn

My mum was admitted to St. Columbus shortly after a fall.

The staff in St Columbus were wonderful in all aspects of their role. Working with the team at Liscarney.

Eolas Program (For family + Friends of Service Users)  

I was invited to join in on this program, I have to say they were a life line to me and my family, They gave me much needed insight to mums condition and how to cope it was wonderful to be in the company of others that were also struggling with someone with Mental Health.

Dear cutusxq77 thank you for for sharing your experiences as a carer of someone who suffers with what is a serious mental health difficulty. I am glad you found both the in-patient experience as well as the community experience supportive and helpful to both your mam and you also. The care team within the hospital and in Liscarney work closely together to ensure a consistant care approach with all of their clients. Thank you for identifying the support you received as a family member and carer, both from the staff working in Liscarney House and St. Colombus but also from your attendance on the Eolas programme. This is an education forum for carers and family to learn about mental illness, how to provide the best supports for loved ones and the importance of caring for yourselves as carers. The peer support gained on this course is extremely important as participants not only learn from others but provide learning for others. I do hope your mam continues to recover from her episode of ill-health. Happy xmas and best wishes for a healthy and happy 2020. Kevin
