"The great care I get in st.patrick hospital in Carrick on Shannon"

About: Sligo Leitrim Mental Health Services

(as the patient),

Have been under the doctor for around ten years.  At the moment I am going to st Patrick's two to three times a week as I am not in a great head place and just knowing that Geraldine and the rest of the team  are just a phone call away gives me and my husband peace of mind.

I have been using st Patrick's center the last few years and I can't praise the team in St Patrick's enough as many a time they have saved my life just knowing that when I call I will get a nurse that knows me and my mental health and what medications I am on.

The care I get there is fantastic sometimes just to go and have a quick chat and a cup of tea or a good cry with someone I feel safe with. The one thing I take away from St Patrick's is the feeling of a safe place

.

Response from Denis O'Brien, Assistant Director of Nursing & Leitrim Community Mental Health Team Co-ordinator, Sligo Leitrim Mental Health Services

Dear Grateful,

Thank you for your kind words in relation to Geraldine and the team who are based in Summerhill Lodge Mental Health Care Centre on the grounds of St Patrick's Hospital Carrick-on-Shannon. I will pass on your comments to the team.

It is part of the care we provide that Nursing Staff and other team members listen and support people either on the phone or in person, while creating a safe place to have a quick chat over a cup of tea. It is important to us that family members are also supported.

Thank you again for your comments and I wish you well in the future.

Kind Regards

Denis
