"CBT helped with negative thinking"

I attended CBT at Markievicz House  to help with organisation and improve life as a person with ADD. I didn’t fully understand how it works at the beginning and didn’t enjoy the thought of homework! Once I got past that I found it very helpful. I think it’s a very useful therapy for people who are mentally healthy but in need of strategies to work on certain areas and to help with negative thinking patterns. I feel clearer and more organised and I will continue to use the techniques given to me during CBT after finishing attending appointments

Thank you so much for taking the time to give feedback on your experience of attending cognitive behavioural therapy. I am glad that you found the therapy helpful and in particular the various strategies and techniques that enabled you to make positive changes in your life. As you mentioned the therapy aims to help people identify negative thought patterns and behaviours and to gradually challenge and change these which in turn will have a positive impact on your mood. Cognitive behavioural therapy involves doing regular homework in between sessions which can cause some uncertainty at the beginning. However as you discovered it is an integral part of therapy and where much of the change and learning takes place in between sessions.

I am delighted that you can see the benefits in your daily life and that you plan to continue to use the tools from therapy into the future.
