"Liscarney House Psychiatry of Later Life Sligo"

About: Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services / Sligo Leitrim Psychiatry of Later Life

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I have been attending the day hospital in Liscarney house for the last number of weeks. My GP had referred me as I was suffering with anxiety and depression. I get good help from the relaxation therapy that Gavin the Nurse Manager does on a friday. I wish I was able to do it at home. I would like to have more control over my anxiety and depression. I am told I will get better and I hope I do.

Liscarney House is a lovey place to meet other people who have difficulties just like me. I could not fault the service there. The staff collect me from the train in the mornings. The meals are lovely. The talks that Ruth the OT gives about anxiety management are enlightening. If there is one suggestion I could make it would be for staff to wear name badges with their first name on it. I forget peoples names alot. That would be very helpful.

Thank you so much for your feedback about your experiences whilst attending the acute day hospital, Liscarney House. I am delighted the service was able to provide the support you needed and hope you remain well.

Your story has been shared with the multidisciplinary team and your suggestion that staff wear name badges (for easier identification and to help others remember names) has been adopted by the entire team. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experiences with us.

Best wishes, Kevin McLaughlin
