Having waited 2 years to have Keyhole Surgery, which I had been assured would be carried out within 1 month of my release from a 2 week in-patient stay in 2013; the surgery was performed in Tallaght Hospital a few weeks ago. Awaiting the post op appointment I received a letter advising that I will be having a 10 minute "Post Op Telephone Consultation” with a Medical Practitioner in June. Firstly I don't agree that following this type of surgery my progress could be assessed over the telephone. I do believe that this procedure would require a more hands on approach. Secondly the letter does not state who the Medical Practitioner will be. I am assuming it will be the surgeon himself but it could also be a Nurse. Finally there was no option given to have an actual appointment, only that the call would take place between certain hours on a specific date.
"How can my progress after surgery be assessed by telephone?"
