My 88 year old mother had her Medical Card withdrawn without notice - we knew it was under review. The first we became aware of the withdrawal of the Medical Card was when the Pharmacy withheld her medications pending immediate payment of over 500 euros. I consider this to be Elder Abuse (HSE Elder Abuse Policy) and while I reported it to the HSE, there was never any feedback about the incident.
