"Only regret was I didn't write to compliment them at the time."

About: Mid Western Regional / Emergency department Mid Western Regional / Intensive Care

(as the patient),

While visiting family in Limerick 2 years ago, unfortunately I sufferred a heart attack.

The response of the Ambulance service was fantastic and they were by my side within minutes. After stabilising me there was a very quick rush to Limerick Regional hospital.

Throughout my time in A&E and the following 6 days in CCU I have to say that I recieved the best possible care possible form both a clinical perspective and also from a human perspective.

The staff were very clearly very committed and competent, but for me the most important aspect was the time that they gave me in terms of reassurance, information and compassion. Being a health professional myself it was a huge shock to be on the other side of the fence and the nursing staff in particular had that age old skill of the "art" of nursing which is so important.

My only regret is that I did not write to the service directly at the time to compliment them at the time.
