I took my 16 year old daughter to the
A/E as she had a painful swollen eye which had not responded to GP treatment. The GP had diagnosed an eye infection and prescribed stetoid/antibiotic eye drops.
When we attended the A/E, she was immeadiately assessed by a triage nurse who took a history. After a short wait she was then seen by a very thorough doctor who said that she didnt have an eye infection and diagnosed a corneal lasceration from her contact lenses.
She was immeadiately started on several different eye drops and had to attend the A/E for follow up twice weekly for 6 weeks.
During this time we received polite, efficient treatment from all staff members. I also witnessed many different frail elderly people being treatment with great courtesy and sensitivity by the receptionists.
