"They gave me strength"

About: Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services / Crisis Resolution Team

(as the patient),

I was feeling at ground level, I wanted the world to stop, so I could get off. I had no feeling for anything at all, but it came to a head when I told my doctor how I was feeling, she rang the crisis team....that team saved my life!!!!

They all showed how much they care about people who are ill, having negative thoughts. The amount of time they put into a single person is unbelievable, each and every member of that team are, caring, listeners, sounding boards, a shoulder to cry on when there's no-one else, I honestly believe they saved me, held me aloft, even though I didn't know at the time,  they were available day in day out. I was so grateful for the team being there and able to come to me so quickly, they gave me the strength and reasons to overcome my initial problems, they work in a quiet manner, listening and moreover, helping a person to reach an agreement with themselves, absolutely 100% needed, by myself and many more men and women who are at the same initial stages.

They are, and have been crucial to helping me to learn and understand  what I was going through, bad depression is not something you can just pass off like a cold or sniffles, it has to be handled with care, and that is Exactly what this team does for many people, I cannot stress enough how much they helped, Hugh, Nicole, Joan, DR.Fergal, Nurse Ray, Eilo, Gérard, Mairead, I thank these people from the bottom of my heart ❤️

Dear Marspy46,

Thank you so much for the warmth that you put into your feedback, we found it quite overwhelming and we are very grateful. You are so right about the importance of being heard and ‘held’, and about having time when we are at our lowest ebb. You also need to bear in mind that, while we may have guided you, you did the work. As you say, you were able to come to an agreement with yourself, which tells me that the inner strength was already there, we just had to help you tap into it.

We are so glad that things are better for you and wish you all the best on your recovery journey

Kind regards,

Dr E Gethins
