"CAMHS & DBT saved me"

About: Child and Adolescent Mental Services / CAMHS - North Team

(as a service user),

I started attending CAMHS when I was 16, I was in a very dark place mentally, struggling with anxiety, depressive episodes, anger outbursts and self-harm. While attending CAMHS I was then diagnosed with Disruptive Mood Disregulation Disorder and very luckily got into Dialectical Behavioural Therapy through Aisling who I was also seeing on a weekly basis. DBT and Aisling changed my life in so many ways, DBT has given me life-long skills that I can use to help manage my BPD/EUPD that I have since been diagnosed with. I truly cannot praise Aisling as a service provider enough, she is so deeply understanding and empathic, while also remaining non-judgmental at all times, and she seen me at my absolute worst!! I without a doubt wouldn't be where I am today without the combination of DBT and Aisling! DBT is such a vital service for the North-West, as it is the most effective therapy and treatment for BPD/EUPD and it is so so beneficial. I am now almost 24, I am still on my journey with wellbeing but I am 100% a million times better off now thanks to my experience with DBT and Aisling at CAMHS. I cannot thank Aisling enough for all her amazing help and support and I'll forever be grateful for the experience I had with her!

Dear capy,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this valuable feedback.

Your story is not dissimilar to others' who are referred to our DBT programme - many finding themselves in a very dark place mentally and faced with significant challenges in life. It is heartwarming to read the contribution of DBT and Aisling has had in helping you to change your life for the better. The skills that you have learned truly are lifelong skills, and it is wonderful to learn that they are continuing to help you on your journey with wellbeing.

Thanking you again for posting your positive experience of our service, and I will be sure to pass on this wonderful feedback to Aisling and the wider team.

On behalf of the DBT team and wider CAMHS service, I will you all the very best for the future.
