"Early Intervention in Psychosis Programme, Sligo/Leitrim/South Donegal Mental Health Services"

About: Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services / Early Intervention Youth Mental Health Service

(as a staff member posting for a carer/relative),

" I want to thank you Regina and all the Team for your support and professionalism over the past two years shown to my husband, myself and my son. We honestly could not have got through this experience without your support. I would like to also thank Sharon(CBT) & Tara(EIP Keyworker) for looking after my son so well when he really needed it.

Also Dr. ONeill who listened and worked well with my son when he was so vulnerable. He is now doing well, finished his degree and has got a job and his license after this turbulent period. He has learned to recognize trigger points and this has equipped him with life long coping mechanisms. I know he may continue to face challenges but he has learned how to deal with them better. I am so grateful to the other family members I have met in the Monthly Family Support Group and have learned so much from them and it was great to talk to other people going through the same worries and emotions as we were. We never felt alone there which is a wonderful thing. We will forever be indebted to you all on the EIP Team and thank you for such wonderful work" Sligo Mum

Thank you for sharing your story, which highlights how powerful working with, and meeting with families who share the experience of having a loved one facing mental health challenges can be. It is so uplifting to hear how your son has overcome these challenges, the achievements he has made and how he is better equipped to deal with future challenges. It is also great to hear how your experiences were of such a help to you as a family and I am sure to other families with the support you gave and received through the monthly family support group. Sharing your story will provide hope to others facing similar challenges and we really appreciate you taking the time to do it.
