"Struggling without ADHD medication"

About: Letterkenny General Hospital / Mental Health Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services / Sligo Child and Adolescent Community Mental Health Services

(as a service user),

So I have been diagnosed with ADHD as a young child and have been medicated all my life up until this april when I turned 18 I was with Camhs up until 18 and then I had a dr who assessed me and put me on stratera  which was working good for me they had given me a month prescription and said it was to be continued by my gp  in Milford but she wouldn’t continue it for me and referred me to ADHD specialist in Sligo in which I have been in contact with and they said it would have be assessed and diagnosed.

I am struggling without adhd medication with no sleeping at night , very angry during day , cant focus on doing simple tasks like doing dishes or washing etc and I have a big appetite i have had this problem before they then changed my medication to medikinet but I am now without medication and struggling a lot

Dear Ememr98,

Thank you for posting your story on the site and I am very sorry to hear that you are struggling at the moment. As you say, you have been in contact with the ADHD Team, your GP and the Mental Health Service, and these are good supports, especially if you are in difficulties. I have contacted the ADHD team and let them know about your story and you are welcome to telephone them again for further advice if that would be helpful. I do hope that things get better for you and you find some of the answers you are looking for.
