"Eye-opening and amazing at the same time"

(as the patient),

I and my daughter did a 16 weeks intensive DBT program with both group and individual therapy, organised by CAMHS in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal.

I have no words to say thank you for helping us rebuild our relationship again. I and my daughter feel so much closer to each other emotionally as well as mentally. The work was exhausting, eye-opening and amazing at the same time and I can confidently say it saved my daughter's life. 
Many thanks to the therapists for their incredible support and help.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this valuable feedback. I am delighted to read of your positive experience of the DBT Programme facilitated by Donegal CAMHS. With DBT being a multifamily approach that requires both the young person and their parent(s)/carer(s) to attend, shared understanding and application of DBT skills more often leads to improved relationships - which of course is one of the core modules ('Interpersonal Effectiveness') taught in Skills group, along with 'Mindfulness', 'Emotional Regulation' and 'Distress Tolerance'. You rightly point out that the DBT Programme is very intensive and requires a lot of commitment and dedication over the 16 weeks - from both participants and therapists alike. However, as is clearly evident from your feedback, the time and energy that both yourself and your daughter have put into DBT has undoubtedly been well worth it - so well done!!!

Once again, I am delighted to read that DBT has been beneficial in helping to turn your daughter's life around for the better. On behalf of the DBT team, I wish you both every future success, and remember - keep practicing those skills!!!:-)
