"Depression & Anxiety"

About: Donegal Mental Health Services

(as the patient),

My CBT therapist referred me to the psychiatrist in Letterkenny to receive a diagnosis. I have been a patient for nearly 2 years & still haven’t received my diagnosis. I speak to a different doctor every phone call and don’t feel like they’re helping. When I’m struggling they just up my medication and give me sleeping tablets.

Dear Sal,

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that this has been your experience. Due to the pandemic, many out patient appointments are now delivered via the telephone. This is obviously not working well for you and you don't feel that you are getting the right support when you most need it. I wonder if you might be able to say this to the doctor or the CBT therapist if you are still attending? They may then be able to find better ways to meet your mental health needs.

Regards,

Maura Finnegan, Principal Clinical Psychologist, HSE Donegal
