"Markievicz House Psychiatric Services"

About: Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services

(as a service user),

I moved house twice in one year due to unforseen circumstances and also had a new phone number. I was in therapy and was having regular check ups with the psychiatrists at Marcievicz House in Sligo. Although I updated them numerous times with my change of address and number they kept sending letters to my old address and hadn't updated my number. This meant I missed many appointments. I must have updated my info close to 10 times either by calling the reception and, on one occasion, giving my new details to the psychiatrist directly when I managed to make an appointment myself.

I felt very angry as being a mental health service user it is very important that the people whose care I was under should have made sure to have the correct details. It felt like they were badly organised and I felt forgotten about.

I have since then called and asked to be removed from their care as it causes me too much frustration when my ex delivers me yet another letter that they have sent to my old address and it still has my old phone number on it.

Dear perseussy38,

Can I firstly apologise for this negative experience. This is not to an acceptable standard and not the level of professionalism we want to portray in our service. Your story has now been shared with our Clinical and Administration team who will be aware of the importance of updating patient details on our systems. Please be assured that your confidentiality is of the upmost importance. It must have been very distressing for you to continuously provide the most up to date details and to have the letters/appointments wrongly addressed by ourselves. I am sorry to hear you no longer wish to engage with services. At any time you choose to reengage we are here and available so please never hesitate. I am sorry you felt forgotten about and want to assure you your health is a priority to us and we are here to provide services as required.

I wish you good health in the years ahead.
