"With the odd biscuit thrown in!"

About: Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services / Sligo Leitrim Psychiatry of Later Life

(as a service user),

I found the day service to be second to none. Staff were always very helpful and accommodating, with the odd cup of coffee and biscuits thrown in. I was diagnosed with bipolar and prescribed with medication which was very helpful, as was the resident psychiatrist. I have no fault to find during my time attending Liscarney House.

Dear "Helpful",

thank you for taking the time to share your personal experiences of attending Liscarney House Acute Day Hospital. I am delighted that you found that the service met your needs and has helped with both the identification of the problem as well as it's treatment. Medications play an important role in the management of mood disorders but of equal importance is being valued, being connected, having someone to share your concerns with and to feel supported by people who care (both professionals and non-professionals). Part of the role of the staff at Liscarney House is to help enhance confidence in learning to live with an illness, through education around the illness, raising awareness of warning signs that may indicate relapse and promotion of lifestyle approaches that help maintain wellness. Thank you again for your kind comments and I wish you well in your recovery.

Best wishes,

Kevin
