"A&E UHLimerick Thank you"

About: Mid Western Regional / Emergency department

(as the patient),

I attended A&E with a broken shoulder.

I registered my name and waited a long time in the waiting area. When called I was unable to stand up and thought I would pass out. This resulted in my missing my place in the queue as the next name was called. I thought was very inconsiderate of the person who called my name as they dismissed me as I struggled to stand while waiting for a family member to arrive to A&E to assist me.
I was subsequently given a wheelchair and was seen and X-rayed in A&E. I was seen by professional tolerant and kind doctors and nurses who were forced to clamber through trollies. Staff pushed my wheelchair forward and backwards to access handwashing apologising every time. The work in A&E is incredibly difficult and I admire all the staff that were dealing with such a wide range of emergencies including calming a panicked carer on the phone.
I cannot thank the staff and especially Eve, Dr Mohammad & Dr John enough for the care they gave me that night and for administering medication which allowed me tolerate a three hour journey home.
This was the last days of that A&E and I hope the new facility opened since is more fit for purpose.
Well done and thank you again to the hardworking staff in A&E on 21st May 2017 from the guy who got me tea and toast to the radiographer and doctors and nurse mentioned above.
