"I have learned to not let things build up"

About: Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services

(as a service user),

All of the staff were really caring and understanding. I was really surprised by how caring and understanding everyone was.

I have a big interest in crafts and I feel the service provided this to me. I find crafts relaxing.

The yoga, dancing and all the activities helped me to build my confidence, while in Liscieney House, and my confidence on the outside up too.

Social worker was exceptionally understanding and helped me so much. All the staff, nothing was any trouble They would do anything for you.

I used to always let things get on top of me, and since being here I have learned to not let things build up.

I wish I had being referred to this service sooner, I wanted the help and when I did finally get referred to Liscarney it helped me so much.

Dear dancerb44, thankyou for taking the time to share your experiences of the Liscarney House acute day hospital programme which I am glad you found helpful in your recovery journey. The multidisciplinary team approach (occupational therapy, nursing, social work and medical team input) provides a variety of therapeutic interventions tailored to each individuals' specific needs and collectively helps build confidence/reduce anxiety and distress, whilst building upon the existing internal resourses of each individual. (Education of and support for carers is a significant aim of the team as they too can play a major role in both recovery and maintaining well-health). Both group work and individual 1:1 sessions are employed to restore confidence and to facilitate personal growth and coping. I am delighted to hear that you feel you have benifited from engagement at Liscarney House and hope you reach your sought for level of contentment. Best wishes in your recovery journey. Kind regards, Kevin McLaughlin.
