"OPD Galway university hospital"

About: University Hospital Galway

(as the patient),

I attended today for a follow up appointment. My appointment time was 10 am I arrived around 9.40 booked in and waited in the large waiting room to be called by my number. After a period the screen showed a minor delay in the clinic. Then changed to 106 minute delay. I was already an hour past my appointment. Eventually I was called up to the next waiting are around 11.30. I was then advised there would be a further delay. The waiting room was full and lots of people standing in the hall. Eventually at 12.30 I was called, though the person that was called  before me had a 10.30 appointment.  There was a doctor standing for 30+ minutes waiting on a room to see patients ( not the doctor I seen)

I feel that the opd was very poorly organised and having delays of 2 + hours is unfair on patients and Doctors.

I was told by a staff member that "that clinic always runs way over" so if you know this then why book in so many people if there is limited waiting areas and examination rooms.
