2 years ago this I was thinking back particularly stressed ,but I got this horrible intrusive thought that I was turning into a monster because I couldnt rid my mind of this particular disgusting thought.
As a result I took a type of breakdown I suppose you could say it was pure and utter anxiety at the time from the disturbing thoughts.
The bottom line was that in a matter of days I was suicidal, I eventually after a few weeks (Which I am so thankfull and lucky I believe )because the waiting lists are horrendous I was referred to CBT with Maria in Ballymote and it was my saviour.
She recognised that my anxiety was as a result of the intrusive thoughts, OCD and she councelled me for a period of time also gave me books to read (The Imp of the mind, Brain lock) which are and were my saviours.
I have my own copy of the books now as reference.
The OCD will never go away but the CBT and Exposure therapy was the best lifesaving tools for me.
Ive read alot about OCD INTRUSIVE thoughts and I was text book.
Im forever gratefull to the mental health system but I feel it is possibly under resourced .
I was lucky I was put in contact with the correct person at the time Maria and of course Dr O neill.
