"My experience"

About: Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services / Sligo Adult Community Mental Health Services

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Dear SLMHS,

Staff skills

Staff skills

My experience of being cared for by the SLMHS Community Mental Health Team - South and West Sligo, has been very positive. They are a dedicated team who do all they can to help those in their care. This is obvious in their practical, yet compassionate approach. This is not always easy when dealing with someone as stubborn as me. I attribute the improvement in my health to their dedication.
However, can I make the following recommendations in relation to the environment of the Tubbercurry Clinic:
The waiting area is not helpful to the mental health of the service user, as it is very confined and there is nothing to engage the minds of the service users, such as a radio, and because of attendees mental state, there is no engagement with others i.e. conversation. Also it is soul destroying to be placed on a corridor while waiting.
Overall, my experience of being cared for by the SLMHS Community Team - South and West Sligo, has been very positive, but needs minor improvements.

Dear Service User,

Thank you for taking the time to voice your opinion and for your primarily positive feedback. I reported your feedback to team and we are planning immediate changes to the reception area of the Tubbercurry Clinic, as a direct result of your feedback. Our plans include providing magazines and a radio in a fit for purpose ‘Waiting Room’.

We really appreciate you helping us deliver an optimum service. Please don't hesitate to contact a staff member again in the future, if you wish to provide any other suggestions or feedback in relation to our service.

Yours gratefully,

Yours gratefully,
