"They helped me out of the darkness and I am forever humbly grateful"

(as the patient),

I had an episode of serious anxiety and depression starting two years ago. I was referred by my wonderful GP in Skreen, to Dr O'Neil's clinic in Easkey, with James as my community mental health nurse. I was so unwell that I would have preferred not to have got better. At first I did not want to take medication and I did not believe Dr O'Neil or James when they said that I could recover. It has been a long journey but one with a happy ending. I was treated promptly with respect and endless patience by this solid team of professionals. They helped me out of the darkness and I am forever humbly grateful.

Thank you for posting the story of your recovery journey over these past 2 years. I will make sure to let the Community Mental Health Team know that their dedication and efforts were appreciated. If I could comment further, I would like to say that your story is also a very powerful one, and speaks of the need to hold onto hope even when times are hard. I do hope that other people reading your story might take some comfort from this message, and see that change is possible. I wish you well in the future.
