As a service user of Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services I was invited to and attended a six week Anxiety Management Group in the Day Hospital in Markievicz House, Sligo. Overall I would rate this programme as excellent. The content met my needs, it was organised and presented clearly. I found it of value in updating my skills to utilize in my recovery.
Generally the facilitator Maria was very competent and confident and generated a good atmosphere. It may have been good actually to have more participants. Or also some sessions could have been longer but that may not have been practical. Also the attendance of student/trainee nurses was a slight flaw. Be better if trainee nurses sitting in on sessions were kept constant I. e. same people every week to strengthen team spirit.
I can only speak for myself and I am glad I attended and I felt supported. It was much more helpful for me than some appointments I have had with rotating doctors in the service.
