(as the patient),

I attend the mental health team in Ballymote and was told by staff recently about this forum where I could share my experience of the service. I think it really good that the service is looking for feedback about what sort of service they are providing to patients. Overall, I am very happy with the support I get from the team there in Ballymote. The only thing I find a bit disappointing is waiting area in The Rock. It's a big table in the middle of the room so you think you are at a meeting or something. Also, it might be worthwhile changing the magazines.....I going in and out of there for appointments the last few years and I would be fairly certain that its the same magazines that have been there. I am used to it now and don't mind too much but for new people coming into the service, the waiting area which can be part of a persons first impression and I think could be made a bit more welcoming. I hope this feedback helps.

I meet with service users and sometimes with their families. I assess psychological problems and provide psychological interventions in an effort to help service users overcome their difficulties.

Dear Anon,

Thank you for your positive feedback about the Mental Health Team you attend and particularly your observations about the waiting area in the Ballymote clinic where you attend appointments. Your feedback has been discussed at our team meeting today and we were all in agreement with you that the waiting area could do with some improvements.

Myself, Joan and Mairead from the team are going to work together to make improvements to the area and hope that the changes we make will make the area feel more welcoming.

Your comment about our service encouraging feedback as 'really good' is certainly appreciated. We really want to hear feedback about the service we deliver......both good and bad. Patient Opinion is an excellent forum to give this feedback as it is an independent forum where people can share their story anonymously and in confidence. By receiving feedback such as yours, it really helps us to understand where we need to make improvements and where we are providing a good service,

I will be in touch very soon about the changes we have made to the waiting area.

Dear Anon,

Thank you again for sharing your feedback about the service on Patient Opinion a number of months ago. Based on your observations about the waiting room in Ballymote, I am pleased to say we have made some changes. The table is no longer in the middle of the room as we now remove it after any meetings we have when it is in use. We also took away the old magazines that had been sitting there for quite a while. Mairead our Occupational Therapist is organising some paintings to add a splash of colour to the walls.

Thank you again for your feedback. It has resulted in a positive change.
