"Upsetting treatment for my mother who has dementia."

My parent has dementia and lives in a nursing home.

A few months ago she became very upset and aggressive and was reviewed by a Consultant Psychiatrist attached to GF in the Cork University hospital. After examining her the consultant changed her medication and stopped an essential drug that she had been on for many years although the consultant didn't know her and was only covering for another colleague.

When questioned the consultant was rude and ignorant and pointed out that they were the doctor and would decide what to do. Because of this consultant my mother ended up on an awful ward and was left in pain for days and fell twice.
