The staff from the crisis resolution team came to my house to help me after a very upsetting episode.
They were all so professional, caring and helpful.
I felt listened to for the first time about potentially having ADHD and/or autism. I was always very anxious but I know there's more to it. I was screened for both which helped settle my thoughts.
The team gave me helpful skills to cope with thoughts, they made sure I had enough and adequate medication and they are arranging CBT for me as I have since been discharged.
I really appreciate the work of the crisis resolution team and I am very happy with the level of care I received from all of the staff. It was overall a very positive experience and I feel safe and comfortable to reach out again, if the need arises.
Things that worked:
They called me ahead of time to arrange a time that suited me for a visit.
They called out to my home which was ideal as I have two small children. I felt comfortable in my own home too and I felt like I had more privacy than if I was in hospital.
I was visited by a doctor and nurses which was a great way to receive care from several people with different backgrounds, skills and experience.
It was obvious that they communicated well as a team as they all came prepared with resources like screening forms, stress tips handouts and I didn't have to repeat anything to anyone.
